My thoughts could use a check-up…

By Pastor Tiara Curry

I recently noticed that my thoughts could use a check-up.🤯

What about you?🤔

With all the things that are going on right now, thoughts are at an all-time high.

Thoughts of Fear➡️ (the what-if’s),
thoughts of Lack➡️ (do I have enough?),
thoughts of Safety➡️ (should I be armed),
thoughts of Worry➡️(your health and health of loved ones), etc.

#SoManyThoughts
These thoughts can be very overwhelming, resulting in anxiety, panic, and stress. And, since our thoughts can carry us to different extremes, it is very important that they are grounded in the word.

Philippians 4:8 says, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is TRUE, and HONORABLE, and RIGHT, and PURE, and LOVELY, and ADMIRABLE. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (NLT)

⤵⤵⤵ Let’s break these words down…

TRUE- genuine; pure; real; not counterfeit; free from falsehood; not fraudulent; exact

HONORABLE- worthy of respect; regarded with esteem; to be consistent with honor; of a reputable association

RIGHT- correct; passing a true judgment; not mistaken or wrong; according to fact

PURE- clear; without spot; not tarnished; incorrupt; free from moral defilement

LOVELY- acceptable; pleasing in form; very pleasing in looks, tone, and manner; loveable; amiable

ADMIRABLE- to be admired; worthy of admiration, esteem, or reverence

EXCELLENT- an excellent or valuable quality; exalted merit; superiority in virtue

PRAISEWORTHY- a commendable thing; applicable; meriting praise; worthy of praise or applause

↗↗↗ Hopefully, this break down helps you assess your thoughts better.

I’m just dropping by to encourage you to check on your thoughts to be sure they are lining up with the word. If they aren’t, you’ll need to #SNATCH them back!

See, our thoughts are involved in a spiritual war.😳
Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:5,  “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing EVERY THOUGHT into CAPTIVITY to the obedience of Christ.”
Sometimes our thoughts want to wander. It’s our job to catch them, bring them back, and make sure they are subject to the word of God.

We have to be disciplined and take back thoughts that pull us away from what we know to be true. If you have been struggling lately, here are a few action items to help you.

-Read the Bible.
-Meditate on uplifting
scriptures.
-Listen to worship music.
-Pray so that your faith is built.

In.👏That.👏 Order.👏

Let’s renew our minds and begin to think differently! Let’s purposefully work to keep our thoughts in line with Christ and His word!

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not earthly things.😇

How have your thoughts been lately? You doing ok?
